We have a dedicated activity co-ordinator in each home and an organised activity schedule is displayed on the notice board, giving information about events and outings, which may include local entertainers, art classes, visits from local churches, prayer meetings, occupational therapists, reminiscence groups etc. Annual events are also organised such as Harvest festival, summer family day and firework night.
We have touch screen computers available for resident's to use to keep in touch with family and friends by email or Skype and access to the internet.
A physiotherapist visits the home weekly to promote wellbeing, with exercise sessions and personal private physiotherapy for those who may need individual treatment.
We have occupational therapy students on work placement from Newcastle University who provide extra activities and personal interaction with our residents, providing one to one therapy and support.
Christian fellowship, especially important in later years, is enhanced in many ways through informal events, visiting speakers and choirs, and, of course, the normal day-to-day sharing of common faith. The result, we trust, is a stimulating environment that promotes spiritual strength and comfort, much appreciated amongst our residents.
Opportunities for residents to join together for Christian fellowship are made available through weekly discussions, devotional meetings and special monthly events promoting spiritual strength and comfort. Transport may be available for residents wishing to attend Sunday or mid week meetings at the church or fellowship of their choice.
