Collecting and sharing memories

Image of young couple during World War 2At Eothen we recognise the need to get to know as much as possible about our residents in order to be able to provide the best care. To do this we would like to involve family and friends in collecting and sharing memories and identifying what is important to them.

There are many different ways to do this. You can arrange to meet with the home manager to simply relay as much information as possible or bring in photographs and small items of memorabilia which are meaningful to your loved ones to make a memory box which can be used to stimulate and aid with reminiscing.

Another way to collect and share memories is by using an online memory book. This is an easy way to compile a family scrapbook of photographs and stories where invited family and friends and carers can contribute including those who live far afield. Stories can be stored online or printed off and can provide a lasting legacy for future generations. I hope that you will agree with the importance of gathering life history information and if you would like to discuss it further please do not hesitate to contact the home manager.
