Our new Wallsend development offers a ground-breaking model of care in which each person’s quality of life is the over-riding priority, taking precedence over structured processes and schedules. The focus is on independence and wellbeing through a relationship-centred style of support involving the person with dementia, their family and friends.
The home manager is Miss Christine Henderson who has a wealth of experience in caring for the elderly and has been employed by Eothen Homes for 19 years, initially as a care assistant, progressing to home manager in 2011. Christine is committed to providing a true home from home where the residents are able to experience care with dignity and respect from a well trained staff team.
The home is split into four households with 13 residents in each. Every household has its own kitchen, dining and lounge areas as well as various spaces for activities around the home.
Staff do not wear uniforms and are designated a household where they support the people living within it to encourage a real relaxed and loving family atmosphere.
There is a lot of outside space including special reminiscence areas as well as one with an old-style touring caravan to help evoke memories of holidays and fun times. There will also be a sensory garden with birds, animals and plants for residents to enjoy.
We also have 1 bedroom flats available to rent for people over 65 to live independently and would be ideal for spouses whose family member is living in the home.
We welcome those in receipt of local authority funding.
